8 Biggest FUMBLES In WWE History
4. WWECW
The optimism from fans for an ECW reboot was enormous for completely justified reasons. The first two One Night Stand events were fun and a worthy tribute to the glory days in Philadelphia, and WWE had enough talent across their main roster and developmental to make a reimagining of ECW thrive. Enter Vince McMahon and his insatiable need to put his fingerprints on things he has no business being anywhere near.
ECW is a name that has and will always be chanted by wrestling fans because the brand stood for so many different things. A constant cycle of new talent and fresh ideas, wrestling that pushed the boundaries of in-ring excellence and on-screen violence, and pride in everything it did. Its reboot in June 2006 did anything but.
Instead, this reboot quickly became a dumping ground for superstars that the main office didn't believe in, on a show that was treated like a C-list priority from the jump. It was like nobody involved had ever watched a single thing from the original product, or even taken their cues from those first One Night Stand events. Instead of leaving the whole operation in the hands of its creator, WWE drove Paul Heyman away from the product in months, until ECW was laid to rest for good in February, 2010.
