8 Decisions That Pushed WCW Towards Ruin

1. Not Pushing Bret 'Hitman' Hart In 1997

Coming off an incident in 1997 so famous that I don't even have to name it, Bret 'Hitman' Hart was the hottest and angriest performer in wrestling. Hart didn't really want to go to WCW, but the manner of his arrival gave him huge momentum.

WCW had a limited window of opportunity to push him to the moon immediately. They needed to get him in the main event scene every week, but instead all momentum was lost. In contrast, WWE didn't make that mistake when they pushed the 'Mr. McMahon' character at the same time.

The heat on Hart's side slowly faded away and although he eventually became a WCW Triple Crown winner, the chance to have him as the top man at that historic time was never going to present itself again. Failing to give Hart a platform to use his drive after WWE had screwed him over was WCW setting themselves up for a massive fall down the road.

Fun loving and opinionated. Full of random facts, many of which are completely irrelevant. I think I'm funny, hopefully at least one other person agrees. Love dissecting movies, television and video games for others to enjoy.
