8 Huge Problems With Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker At WWE SummerSlam

1. It Is Not The Solution To Declining Ratings And Network Subscribers

Why have WWE suddenly decided to dust off The Undertaker and bring him back into the fold? Is it part of some long-term booking plan? Did WWE envisage this when they had Lesnar end the streak? Of course not. This is a classic example of WWE panic booking. Ratings are currently the lowest they have been for many, many years and WWE Network numbers are not what Vince and executives thought they were. By bringing back the Dead Man, WWE are hoping to get more eyes on the product again. 'Taker still has an aura about him and could convince a few more people to subscribe to the Network or tune into Raw in the run up to SummerSlam. But he's not the answer. Undertaker isn't going to stick around from now to WrestleMania and Lesnar will dip in and out as he pleases/his contract stipulates. These are two guys who pretty much define the 'part-time era'. If WWE really want to help increase the ratings, they need to start developing new stars and investing in other talent. Guys like Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Neville, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns should be the focus of creative's attention at the moment. Yes, Undertaker and certainly Lesnar should have a role to play on WWE TV at present. But they're not a miracle cure for WWE's current problems and shouldn't overshadow all the young members of the roster who are trying so hard to break through at present.
