8 New Directions For New WWE Champion Bray Wyatt

7. Retaliation

It’s absolutely vital that Wyatt responds to Orton’s inevitable betrayal strongly. The Eater of Worlds wasn’t booked particularly well throughout their initial feud, and while the past few months have been excellent for him, he still has work to do to recover his former credibility. WWE don’t have the best track record with booking heel champions, but they must find a way to buck the trend with Wyatt.

Bray can’t afford to spend every week on the backfoot leading into WrestleMania. Sure, Orton is the more tenured wrestler (and probably still the bigger star), but Wyatt has spent far too long as a loser. He came-off like a major star for the first time in at least a year last night, but it’ll be tough to shake the feeling that he’s a weak champion if Orton is allowed to dominate the next few weeks.

It’ll take a while for Wyatt to get over the initial shock, but that’s exactly what needs to happen. Afterwards, Wyatt must do everything in his power to make Orton’s life an absolute misery. Not only will this help build babyface sympathy for the former Legend Killer, but it’ll help Bray look like one of the most dangerous men on the planet ahead of the year’s biggest show. This rivalry can be another excellent step on Wyatt’s ongoing re-elevation, but it’s going to be a complete disaster if WWE turn him into Kevin Owens 2.0
