8 Pointless WWE Title Changes

2. Randy Orton > Triple H

No Mercy 2007
WWE

For a man forever chasing Ric Flair's record, no world title reign is entirely without point for Triple H. This one came pretty close though.

At No Mercy 2007, with injured John Cena having just vacated the WWE Championship, Vince McMahon decided to straight-up award the belt to Randy Orton. It was a little unusual, but nepotism is a good way to get your heel champion a little extra heat.

Then, he lost it - inside 10 minutes - to Triple H, who duly defended his new title against Umaga on the same night, before losing it back to Orton in the show's go-home match.

Granted, Cena getting hurt meant they had to re-write the pay-per-view at the last minute - but this seemed more design to shock (or, perhaps, beef out the two men's title reign numbers) than anything else.
