The early days of the New World Order in WCW were electric. Once Hulk Hogan revealed himself as the third man and the invasion began in earnest, battlelines were drawn. A match between WCW loyalists and the NWO was set for Fall Brawl.

But then the NWO stunned the world when WCW's most tried-and-true babyface, Sting. lured pal Lex Luger to a waiting limo, then attacked him. They had fooled everyone with a fake Sting.

At Fall Brawl, the real Sting emerged as the last man for the WCW side in their War Games battle with the NWO, and wiped out Hall, Nash, Hogan, and the fake Sting, before bailing on the WCW team. The next night on Nitro, Sting delivered a killer promo with his back to the camera, appalled that his friends and colleagues believed that he'd sided with the NWO.

A month later, Sting returned in his new Crow-inspired persona, and absolutely destroyed the NWO's fake Sting. This would kick off his year-long storyline leading up to Starrcade and a showdown with Hollywood Hogan.

No other doppelganger storyline can hold a candle to this one.
