Rey Mysterio is one of the most respected and well-loved pro wrestlers of all time. After years of being impressive against literally anyone he shared a ring with, 2006 was a banner year for Rey. The sight of him flipping Randy Orton over the top rope to win that year's Royal Rumble is a classic moment in one of the most positively received Rumble wins in memory.

With fans still reeling from the death of Eddie Guerrero months earlier, Rey would go on to win a triple threat against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 22 for the World Heavyweight Championship in an emotional moment that unified fans everywhere. What followed was the worst kind of cliched booking imaginable, though.

It will have come to your attention that Rey Mysterio is quite short for a WWE superstar, and Vince McMahon's WWE was largely known for being the land of the giants. As such, Mysterio was stereotypically booked as a short man overcoming the odds in feuds with JBL and Mark Henry. This largely involved Rey being lawndarted and slammed around, only to pull out victories that made him, as champion, feel like the underdog time and time again. This lasted for just under four months before Mysterio dropped the title to King Booker at The Great American Bash.
