8 Top Challengers For WWE Champion Roman Reigns In 2016

6. Baron Corbin

Like him or not, you can't deny that WWE sees potential in Baron Corbin. The former Arizona Cardinal has worked hard to get himself into great shape and was recently put over NXT golden child, Apollo Crews, at Takeover: London. Crews is far from Roman Reigns, but he has been a top prospect down in NXT, a position Roman Reigns once held and it says a lot about the company's feelings about Baron Corbin and his future that they would put him over Crews, clean. Corbin's promotion to WWE is inevitable and what better way to get this guy established as a credible threat to the main roster than by positioning him to feud with the top dog in Roman Reigns. The feud shouldn't and probably wouldn't be booked immediately upon Corbin's call-up, and he might be used similar to Rusev upon his debut in 2014. A slow build that includes a string of victories before being positioned against the company's top babyface would be a smart way to use Baron, but unlike Rusev, he could really be catapulted into main event status by stealing a win off the big Samoan. Feuds typically only become great when both sides have a legitimate chance at winning. It's time that WWE breaks their old pattern of building every heel to feed the Cenas of their world, and moves to a state where there are exceptions to the rule. Corbin could be that exception and given WWE's evident feelings about the former Golden Gloves winner, he could be a top challenger for Reigns in 2016.
