7. Dean Ambrose
Ambrose makes the list, but in his current form, he would not be the most compelling challenger for the reigning WWE Champion. For one, we've already seen this match end with a pretty definitive outcome at Survivor Series 2015 and it didn't even last 10 minutes. Their main event battle for the WWE Championship was lackluster to say the least and, while it was a means to an end that got the title over to Sheamus, it didn't leave many fans jumping with anticipation for a rematch. No, Dean would require a bit of a refresh in order to be considered a legitimate threat to Roman Reigns in 2016 and it would probably need to go beyond a flip-flopping of his character's allegiances. A quick heel turn might warrant a PPV main event or two with Roman, but if WWE wants to keep him strong beyond a couple B-level PPVs, Ambrose should undergo a pretty big repackage in 2016. Despite being Intercontinental Champion, Dean has been the least protected member of the Shield since their split in mid-2014, suffering losses to Reigns, Seth Rollins and even Bray Wyatt in the past year-and-a-half. In order to be elevated to the main event again, a change in presentation would be a necessary update. Still, even without a change, another match with Reigns is probably in the cards for next year, it's just a question of how far does WWE want to go with Dean Ambrose.
