8 Ups & 11 Downs For WWE In 2018 (So Far)

8. The Death Of Tag Wrestling

Tag team wrestling was on fire in 2017. The Usos vs. New Day feud highlighted many a pay-per-view undercard, Sheamus & Cesaro did a grand job holding fort on Raw, and with teams like The Authors Of Pain killing it in developmental, the future looked bright. Granted, the division was still a level or two below its turn of the century heyday, but at least the talented crew were being booked with respect.

But the scene has nosedived in 2018, particularly on Raw, where the moderately interesting Deleters Of Worlds anchor a division populated entirely by glorified enhancement duos and a diminished Revival. On SmackDown, the championship feuds revolve around hammers and pancakes. Great teams like The Usos and Bar are doing nothing of note, and the Bludgeon Brothers have been cast as dated 1980s boogeymen.

The reason for this is simple: Vince McMahon doesn't give a f***. Tag wrestling has rarely been a priority for him, and while last year suggested that perhaps this was changing, the Chairman has returned to form in 2018. A shame not only for fans who found sanctity in last year's work, but also the marginalised performers.
