8 Ups & 11 Downs For WWE In 2018 (So Far)

5. Roman Bloody Reigns

Nothing about Roman Reigns' 2018 character arc makes sense. Nothing.

WWE spent four years building their 'Big Dog' up as 'The Guy,' and everything pointed towards a grand WrestleMania 34 coronation, but Roman wasn't crowned in New Orleans. Instead, he was buried, and followed it up with another loss to Brock Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

That WWE would put so much effort into elevating Roman against their audience's wishes, only to perform a complete U-turn, is insane. Now, he's a neutered, whiney narcissists who, in-character, can't face up to his own failings. Reigns has an excuse for everything, and spits a contrived anti-authority narrative when he isn't complaining or getting destroyed by whoever he's feuding with at the time. WWE, bless them, are trying to build Daniel Bryan levels of sympathy, and it's completely transparent.

Reigns' one saving grace was always that no matter how obnoxious his character and push became, he at least had great matches. Sadly, this isn't even the case these days. The Lesnar bouts were toilet, he barely works Raw singles matches anymore, and it's hard to imagine him making magic with Bobby Lashley.

'The Big Dog' stinks. Tearing up every aspect of his character and starting again is the only option.
