8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Emergence 2021

2. Lacking Heat

The Good Brothers vs. Violent By Design vs. Rich Swann and Willie Mack should have been a solid three-way encounter. IMPACT's doubles division is no longer in its glory days where the Lucha Bros and the LAX were battling in epic Full Metal Mayhem brawls, but it can still be good at times.

Emergence didn't serve the three duos well, however.

The match failed to properly reach boiling point, instead feeling as if it was trodding along a never-ending path. It didn't hit the right note, which was rather surprising given the online reaction to the terrific Doc Gallows vs. Joe Doering clash from this week's IMPACT. The only time this sort of tone was really met was when Swann made the hot tag to Mack, with 'Chocolate Thunder' flying on to the Good Brothers.

Rhino took the Karl Anderson pin here, with Eric Young lambasting him after the match for failing to regain the World Tag Team Championships for Violent By Design. That sets up a decent story arc moving forward. As a match, this wasn't great. The credibility of the Good Brothers' title reign can't rely solely on their AEW work.
