8 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 7)

3. Jericho's Chaotic Project Fails

Chris Jericho Luther
AEW

Putting Chaos Project up against Chris Jericho and Jake Hager for the former's 30th anniversary made sense, given the lengthy history between 'Le Champion' and 'The Original Death Dealer,' and AEW did a good job of filling in the gaps with the Road To vignette.

Unfortunately, the bout wasn't up to scratch. Luther and Serpentico looked solid in their Dark bout earlier this week, though this was a step down. The veteran looked incredibly slow. Clunky moments like him slipping while climbing the turnbuckles, getting ready to dive onto the pile of men who were conveniently waiting to catch him, hindered the match. A lame distraction finish (in which Sammy Guevara occupied Luther to allow Jericho's Judas Effect) dragged it down further.

A cute idea, given AEW probably didn't want to burn a money Jericho match on a night when they were going head-to-head with the vice-presidential debate on the other channel, but it didn't come off.
