8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 22)

2. Filling Time

Typically, Impact Wrestling's calendar year ends in the same fashion - a retrospective look at the past 365 days (or, in this case, 366 days) in the company's history. That's fine as it allows us to rejoice in some of the great action we may have forgotten about from the past year. This year, though, they had a chance to do something different. With the lack of fans in attendance, they easily could have taped more content to produce an actual episode here.

It's a minor Down for sure, as the company have already had one of their best years to date, despite the circumstances, but it's a tad underwhelming to end such a great year without any actual in-ring competition. Both this week's and next week's episodes are 'Best of 2020' instalments mixed with the end of year awards, meaning 15 December was the last real Impact show for 2020.

The night was filled with time-filling segments that covered each and every detail of which ever moment they were talking about. Eric Young's video package, in particular, spoke about everything from his Slammiversary return to the Rich Swann rivalry to the acquisition of Joe Doering and Cody Deaner. In total, the video lasted six minutes. Six whole minutes of your time.

Next week will be the same sort of year, and with the award for Match of the Year being given out, expect to see the entire match broadcast for free.
