4. NXT Championship Number One Contender's Bout Set For Next Week
Now the honeymoon period has expired on Samoa Joe's NXT Championship victory over Karrion Kross at TakeOver 36, it was finally time for William Regal to announce what was next for the Samoan Submission Machine last night.
In a move that will likely surprise next to no one, all of the lads who were involved in a stare-down of sorts a few weeks ago with the new champ will meet in a fatal four-way in seven days time to determine the next challenger for Joe's strap. This means that Kyle O'Reilly, LA Knight, Tommaso Ciampa, and Pete Dunne will all be hoping to walk out of next Tuesday night's new direction of sorts with a shot at becoming the new top guy.
O'Reilly would later confess that he wasn't that concerned about the belt itself, more about what it represented: being the best. Knight arrogantly confessed to being the next Champion. While Ciampa simply wants Goldie back.
There's no questioning that every guy involved in the match has a claim to being one of the strongest workers on the brand, even if Knight has just come off a demoralising defeat. But it's rather difficult to imagine any one of those stars yanking the title away from the dominant Joe at this moment in time, which is likely an indictment on the current NXT system that is set for a revamp in seven days time more than anything.
Still, the match should be a banger, though.
