8 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Apr 20)

1. Less Focus On Boys, More Focus On Titles

Simply put, Candice LeRae had the right idea this week when squabbling with the love-sick puppy dog that is Indi Hartwell backstage, post-attempt to lock lips with Dexter Lumis. The two should be focusing more on trying to pry the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships away from Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart than getting involved in an often excruciating forbidden love storyline that will likely only end one of two ways.

The Way will either use similar tactics to the ones they used to keep Austin Theory out of Lumis' grasps, ala therapist, or Hartwell and Lumis will live happily ever after and cause The Way to fracture prematurely. Both of which don't spell must-watch TV.

What's so difficult about just having the two go out of their way to make Moon and Blackheart's lives hell, forcing the champs to put their gold on the line once again? Having LeRae look like a goof and then get dragged into a room to be beaten on by the current title holders felt odd, and the fact Hartwell was able to actually gain a title match for the two after simply bumping into Regal not long after just felt like a contrived way of getting said clash booked. It also further highlighted the overall lack of depth in the division if you can just waltz up to the GM and request a shot.

With less time spent lingering on star-crossed lovers, we may be able to build a respectable women's tag division here. But, who needs that when you've got Lumis' dreamy eyes?
