Finally delivering on his potential after a somewhat difficult start in the early days of his NXT career, KUSHIDA finally got his hands on some gold after putting away Santos Escobar in their Cruiserweight Championship open challenge match last week.

It's clear that Japan in particular celebrated the star's win as a notable moment in his already stellar career, evidenced in a pre-match video package highlighting the various media outlets who covered his moment. In typical honourable Champion fashion, KUSHIDA followed this win up by laying down another open challenge to anyone in the back, giving them the opportunity he had last week.

Determined to finally be given a shot at a belt after having his own title stripped away due to actions not in his control, Oney Lorcan answered the call. The pair's ensuing encounter was every bit as physical and technically sound as you'd expect.

KUSHIDA would live to defend another day, however, after using his newly boot-less feet to lock in a hoverboard lock for the victory. Santos Escobar and his Legado cronies would attempt to take the shine off of this successful night at the office, but current NXT Tag Team Champions MSK made the save before any real damage could be done.

A six-man tag with all of these combustable elements next week? Why yes, I would like to have my jaw crash off the floor on a Tuesday night. How kind of you.
