8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 12)

2. Pointless Matches

While we did get some good wrestling Monday night, Raw also had some utterly useless in-ring action.

Consider: In a row, we got Robert Roode versus No Way Jose, Revival versus Lucha House Party, and Viking Raiders versus two jobbers. The Roode match served as filler before Paul Heyman cut a promo, while Revival’s match broke down quickly when the 24/7 division chased R-Truth to the ring, drawing a DQ. And the Raiders had yet another meaningless squash.

Not every match that takes place on Raw can be PPV-quality or have great backstory to them, but when three straight matches are subpar and lack any storyline, then it just becomes an old episode of Superstars. And that’s just disappointing.
