You would think that Brock Lesnar returning home to Minnesota for Raw would have made for really good television, but instead, we got a big, fat goose egg.

Brock came out to a solid ovation, and fans cheered and chanted “Suplex City!” for him. But it seemed like Paul Heyman really, really wanted fans to chant something else instead. He kept goading the crowd to chant for Goldberg, which they did half-heartedly. Heyman kept coming back to it, finally blurting out incredulously that they were in Lesnar’s hometown and half the crowd was chanting for Goldberg.

The faithful fans responded by chanting, “Goldberg sucks!” At that point, Heyman and Brock conferred, and Heyman flipped the mic the duo walked off, just ending the segment right there. It felt completely flat, as if the promo depended on fans chanting for Goldberg, and when Paul E. couldn’t egg them on, they just gave up. Either way, it was a dull, meaningless promo.
