8 Wrestlers John Cena Didn't Bury
2. CM Punk
The longest reigning WWE champion of the modern era would never have reached that level were it not for his huge win over John Cena in 2011.
Although it was his famous 'pipe bomb' promo on Raw which propelled Punk to the level of main eventer, it was the storyline of his desire to leave WWE and his win over Cena in his hometown of Chicago in front of one of the hottest crowds ever which sent his star into orbit.
On the back of Punk's win over Cena at Money in the Bank 2011 in a classic match, Punk was suddenly the hottest wrestler in the industry. Sure, WWE did their best to stall his momentum for reasons only they know, but it was this win over Cena which put Punk on the path to greatness and that 434-day title reign.
Thank goodness then that WWE didn't screw this up at all and make Punk lose his love for wrestling. Because imagine if they'd been stupid enough to let a star of this magnitude get away from them and go to UFC instead...
