8 Wrestlers Who Quit After Major PPVs
5. Hawk (SummerSlam '92)
When the Legion of Doom returned to WWE television in the summer of 1992, they were made to look like dummies alongside an inexplicable ventriloquist's doll called Rocco. Anecdotally, Hawk was so off his own Rocco on pills at a time that he perhaps could have put the wooden puppet down to his suffering psyche, but nevertheless he was completely disgusted by the gimmick.
After pumping his body full of sedatives and managing not to crash his motorcycle for the Legion's match with Money Inc. at SummerSlam '92, Hawk, fearing a failed drug test, went AWOL on the company. Apocryphally, the Road Warrior made good on his gimmick, refusing to fly home and instead touring the London chapter of the Hell's Angels alongside 'The Berserker' John Nord.
A few days later, Animal was told his partner had quit the company. For the remainder of his tenure, he was paired with Crush who, not content with spoiling copycats Demolition, now had a chance to butcher the originals.
