8 Career-Ending WWE Disasters

1. Diamond Dallas Page

This gimmick gets mentioned more than most because it is one of WWE's all-time disasters, but it will always cause confusion and disappointment that Diamond Dallas Page wasn't given a fair run in WWE. When looking at the success of Rob Van Dam and Booker T, who came in from outside promotions and were just allowed to be themselves, it is baffling to try to understand why Vince McMahon didn't give a lovable, everyman babyface like DDP a fair shot at success.

DDP's story in itself is an underdog story. Coming into wrestling late in the game and in WCW during an era in which it was almost impossible to get over as a main event talent, the New Jersey brawler had an irrepresible spirit that made fans love him. He gave Goldberg arguably his greatest ever one-on-one match at Halloween Havoc '98 in Vegas, and was one of the few highlights of WCW's final few years.

When he came to WWE, his character needed no altering whatsoever to be a hit. Instead, he was introduced as a heel, given a storyline in which he was The Undertaker's wife's stalker, and then given another annoying heel gimmick as a motivational speaker with a relentlessly positive attitude. It remains one of the worst series decisions in the history of WWE creative and tanked DDP's chances of replicating his WCW success.
