8 WWE Storylines That Must Happen Before 2017

3. Bray Wyatt: WWE Champion

From the moment he arrived in WWE back in 2013, Bray Wyatt has been portrayed as a main event character despite having yet to win that one defining match or capturing a single championship. He is almost always sacrificed in the name of building a stronger babyface and in the process, has the entire basis of his persona undermined.

Now on SmackDown, a brand devoid of many credible main event stars, it is time for Wyatt to make good on his promise to "bring down the machine" by capturing the WWE Championship and wreaking havoc across the show.

With so few established headline-grabbing villains, Wyatt can be the type of heel SmackDown is built around as 2017 approaches. He could easily have John Cena, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler all vying for his title, all the while pulling their strings like the master puppeteer that he is. It would make some compelling and fresh television.

It has been years since WWE fans have had the luxury of a credible main event heel not somehow linked to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and Wyatt is the perfect choice to buck the trend.
