When WWE doesn't have anything to do for two singles stars one of the easiest things to do is to throw them together in a tag team. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Whereas a tag team who are introduced and have worked as a tag team know each other and have ironed out the creases and (hopefully) have chemistry and their psychology down, it can be a lot harder for two random performers who may have, at best, a courteous professional relationship. Kane and RVD, two guys who'd had their momentum recently torpedoed by Triple H, formed a tag team in early 2003 and quickly captured the World Tag Team Titles. They had entertaining defences against the likes of Lance Storm and William Regal, the Dudley Boys and even La Resistance (who were greener than goose s*** at the time). They were one of the most entertaining parts of Raw and produced the goods in the ring and in backstage segments and promos. But it wouldn't last, as Kane turned heel on RVD following his unmasking on the June 23rd 2003 Raw. The two briefly feuded before moving on to other things.
