9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Dream Matches
6. Shawn Michaels Vs. Mr. Perfect (SummerSlam 1993)
This match probably came just a couple of years too early. Shawn Michaels was still on the way up, yet to grow into the accomplished ring performer he later became, whilst Hennig - dogged by a serious back injury from which he had barely just recovered - wasn't in the best shape of his career.
The result was a nothing encounter for the Intercontinental Championship, which came as a great disappointment to early-'90s fans who counted its two competitors among the very best in the entire wrestling industry - and hoped for something to rival the IC Title bout from the previous year's event at Wembley.
There were flashes of technical brilliance in the early goings as Michaels, inevitably, began working the patched-up back of his opponent, but at 11 minutes and change, there just wasn't enough time for the match to grow into a long, drawn-out psychological affair.
Instead, HBK's ringside accomplice Diesel pulled Perfect to the outside just as he began to move into second gear, and tossed him into the steel steps for a disappointing count-out finish. If Nash can't have a good match, it seems, then no-one can.
