9 Next WWE Steps For Dean Ambrose

6. Maintain The Anti-Hero Gimmick

Even though Ambrose is facing AJ next week (the top heel on the SmackDown roster), that doesn’t mean that the challenger should revert back to being a pure, straight-up babyface.

In recent weeks, we’ve been seeing a slightly more attitudinal side to Ambrose. He hasn’t been afraid to get in the face of both bad guys, like AJ, or good guys, like Cena, and he was even booed at the end of last week’s show after hitting Cena with a Dirty Deeds in light of their tag match together. Neither face nor heel, I guess you could call him a tweener or, better still, something of an anti-hero.

Whatever you want to call it, it’s been pretty great.

I guess that’s the benefit of a three-way feud, as it enables guys to break out of the traditional mould of good guy versus bad guy and, as has been the case with Dean Ambrose, it produces some pretty strong results.

Here, the next step should perhaps be to just keep up the good work and maintain that anti-hero gimmick. It certainly worked in the past for a certain Stone Cold Steve Austin; maybe this is what he meant by the challenge on his podcast...
