The latest instalment of Breakout Tournament action saw the frequently showcased Carmelo Hayes going to war with Josh Briggs - who literally comes from Nothing (Arizona) - on last night's show.

From the off, it was clear we were going to get your typical big, powerful dude vs. plucky, high flier contest here and the two newcomers played their roles pretty damn well, it must be said. Hayes routinely attempted to chop down his sizeable foe with kicks and fast-paced offence, only to be obliterated by one explosion of power from Briggs.

Duke Hudson, the man set to face the winner of the contest in the semi-finals, then suddenly made his presence known on commentary out of the blue, with his only real contribution to the action being an odd brag about the size of his feet. Away from comparing shoe sizes, though, it was Hayes who was able to outlast his mighty adversary, overcoming a vicious big boot/chokeslam combination to nail Briggs with a hyper athletic leg drop from the top rope for the win.

Hayes has already shown off what he's capable of against the likes of KUSHIDA and Adam Cole in recent times and looks like an early contender to win the whole thing. Before we get ahead of ourselves, however, an intriguing clash of styles and yet another David vs. Goliath showdown awaits.
