9 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Full Gear 2022
3. Jungle Boy Becomes 'Jungle Man'
Jim Ross was swept up in Jungle Boy fever during the main show's opener, and rightly so. Jack Perry went from Jungle Boy to 'Jungle Man' in less than 20 minutes, and he did so by battling his old tag partner in a hot steel cage war. This was top stuff, not least because it actually told a story rather than being a spotfest for the sake of it.
Christian Cage nabbed a key from the official at ringside, opened the cage door and then got punted from ringside. That was a clever way to excuse Luchasaurus and JB leaving the structure to grab a table and some chairs from beneath the ring. Ideally, workers don't leave cages until the end, but the weapons fit such a personal blood feud.
The elbow drop finish was fab too (even if the table almost turned heel).
Jungle's babyface comeback after being bloodied up by the dinosaur early doors was a special moment for him. It's no accident that AEW decided to kick Full Gear off with a massive win for one of their brightest young stars either, because another was winning the main event.
