9 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Aug 12)

1. Bucks & Dark Order Light The Fuse

Matt Jackson

The Young Bucks vs. The Dark Order's Stu Grayson and Evil Uno was always going to bang. These tandems have worked countless matches on wrestling's smaller stages (most of them rippers) and brought that chemistry to national television, opening Dynamite with a fast, explosive burst of outstanding tag team wrestling.

The Dark Order's goober squad jumped the Jackson brothers on the ramp. This put the Bucks up against it from the bell, with Uno and Grayson working Nick over early on. Good isolation work from the Orton saw the elder Buck sell for an extending period. Jackson kept fighting back until he eventually got the hot tag, leading to more of a 50/50 layout of fast, fluid exchanges made possible by their skill and familiarity. Several of these moments would have blown the roof off a packed building: fingers crossed we get a rematch when crowds return.

The goobers trapped Matt down the ramp towards the end, leaving Nick outnumbered. Grayson and Uno set him up for the Fatality but Nick countered as Grayson soared, rolling Uno up with a sunset pin for the one, two, three, just scraping the win as Stu lunged back towards him, almost saving the fall.
