9 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Aug 12)

2. Orange Cassidy Finally Gets His Big Win

AEW had to give one of its up-and-coming stars a big win over a more established name eventually, and they decided to go with Orange Cassidy.

'Freshly Squeezed' pinned Chris Jericho with a mouse-trap cradle when 'Le Champion' swung for the Judas Effect. This came following a failed Inner Circle inference after Mike Chioda had lived up to his promise to call it straight down the middle, with Ortiz and Santana's distraction (despite their ringside ban) allowing Jake Hager to plant Cassidy. OC recovered, fought smart, and took the biggest win of his career.

All this went down on the back of a bout that swapped their first match's slow, grinding heat segment for kinesis. Cassidy was fiery from the get-go, using shtick only to sucker Jericho in before springing the trap, while 'The Demo God' successfully worked around his limitations by controlling much of the layout.

The finish opens the possibility of a rubber match between the two and didn't make Jericho look stupid at all. Cassidy, meanwhile, becomes only the third man to pin 'Le Champion' in AEW.
