9 Wrestlers Who Had Their WORST Match EVER This Year

8. JACOB FATU Vs. Solo Sikoa (WWE SummerSlam)

Has WWE ruined Jacob Fatu?

There’s obviously time left, and the fans haven’t stopped caring about the guy, but his characterisation throughout 2025 was really poor. He was framed as a sympathetic babyface opposite the useless Solo Sikoa, who tormented Fatu by saying he was “all gas, no brains”. When Jacob turned on Solo at Money In The Bank, by loudly shouting “I hate you, Solo!”, it was meant to be an uplifting moment. It was in fact just awful acting, but these days, everybody’s gotta do it.

Their Steel Cage match at SummerSlam was horrendous in ideation and execution.

In a bogstandard exchange, a decent enough dynamic was established. Solo was no match for Fatu, whose no-selling and fire-up spots generated a decent reaction. But the match fell apart, quickly and badly.

Fatu hit Sikoa with a senton. Solo then scrambled towards the corner as quickly as possible to voluntarily take Fatu’s hip attack into the turnbuckle. This was pathetic, brainless pro wrestling, a thoughtless rush to get to the next spot.

Amid the obligatory activity on the outside, Talla Tonga handcuffed Jacob Fatu to the girder atop the cage wall. For a company obsessed with their beloved stories, they got it badly wrong here. This moment wasn’t milked at all. Solo should have smugly gloated right in Fatu’s face, particularly since that is one of the few attributes he has going for him. He should have laughed as Fatu struggled to break free - before the crowd could enjoy his look of pure fear when it actually happened. Instead, Fatu freed himself within seconds, undermining any sense of drama or peril.

The big climactic spot was good, in a guilty pleasure sense, since Tonga Loa ate Fatu’s tree trunk of a thigh at full-force from about 15 feet - but on the whole, this was too idiotic in the bad way.
