9 WWE Matches That Fell Apart On Live TV

3. Goldust Vs The Ultimate Warrior (In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies)

Perhaps it's unfair to include this.

Not unfair to Goldust and The Ultimate Warrior, nor WWE, but to the very meaning of the word "match" considering how little action played out over the excruciating eight minutes the pair spent out there not wrestling on account of the Intercontinental Champion's injury and the Warrior's man-out-of-time return to the company in 1996.

For those uninitiated with In Your House lore thanks to much of it being ignored by documentaries and archivists over the years, the "contest" was anything but. The pair stalled for so much time, Warrior smoked Marlena's cigar (much to the chagrin of Vince McMahon on commentary trying to deny what was literally happening in front of everybody's eyes) while sat in his director's chair wearing his robe, beat up an usher (TAFKA Mantaur, randomly selected for the one-night-only role) and won by count-out.

This was damning on all fronts. Warrior was being paid truckloads of cash that WWE simply didn't have, which may be why Vince McMahon was happy to promote this over absolutely nothing when it came to selling the B-Show. He'd have been better off going with the latter - it left the sourest of tastes for both acts and the company itself on a night where new WWE Champion Shawn Michaels and top challenger Vader saw off Diesel and Razor Ramon respectively as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall set sail for WCW. The new beginning couldn't have looked more like the same old slop.
