AEW Boss Tony Khan Says "We're Not A Cult"

AEW chief Tony Khan does not want to run his promotion like some sort of anti-WWE hate-fest.

That's something Britt Baker made perfectly clear during her recent interview with Chris Jericho for the ex-AEW Champ's 'Talk Is Jericho' podcast. When Britt was talking about sitting in the live crowd to watch her boyfriend Adam Cole work last November's NXT TakeOver: War Games, she revealed what Khan said to her before making the trip.

Baker asked for permission, and a horrified Tony said she didn't really need to.

"Britt, stop asking me. Of course, you can always go. Why would we not want you to go support your boyfriend? We’re not like a cult - it’s not like you can’t go there. It’s fine!".

That was Khan's response when Baker, almost apologetically, asked if she could go watch Cole do his thing on NXT. It's highly unlikely anyone working for WWE would get the same response if they asked Vince McMahon to go watch an episode of Dynamite or take in an AEW pay-per-view.

There's nothing wrong with competition, but Khan wasn't going to stand in the way of Britt's relationship.
