Triple H once made a fascinating analogy about the differences between NXT and WWE's main roster shows like Raw and SmackDown during a conversation with Kyle O'Reilly.

The current AEW star told Renee Paquette's 'The Sessions' podcast that Trips described his vision for NXT and called it "the broadway show". Explaining, Hunter said that WWE's third brand was where "the real performers get out there" - they don't rely on "big-budget blockbuster movie special effects" to make their matches resonate with the audience.

That, naturally, has been whipped away from the show since its rebrand as NXT 2.0. Now, Vince McMahon is much more hands on with Triple H's old baby, and things have changed. O'Reilly will never forget the passionate way in which Trips put NXT on a pedestal above Raw and SmackDown though.

He could see that 'The Game' really loved being a father figure and creative overseer for the brand.

Still, things change, and Kyle knew he had to get away from WWE if he wanted to continue pushing himself as a serious pro wrestler. That wasn't in McMahon's plans for NXT 2.0, and everybody knew it.
