AEW Wrestlers "Open" To Jumping Ship To WWE?
Triple H replacing Vince McMahon as head of creative has changed things for AEW and WWE.
Vince McMahon's downfall and Triple H's ascension have made WWE a more attractive proposition for AEW roster members, reports Dave Meltzer.
Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that he had heard from several AEW talents who had previously dismissed the idea of signing for WWE as they felt they wouldn't be used well. These wrestlers are now more open to it, hopeful that the situation will allow wrestlers to make more money, presumably by playing the two sides against each other to leverage a better deal.
While there is no indication that these wrestlers want to leave AEW, the dynamic in American professional wrestling has shifted. WWE without Vince is seemingly a more attractive proposition for prospective free agents.
The disgraced McMahon resigned as WWE Chairman and CEO on 22 July, letting go of all roles in the promotion, including creative lead. Triple H was announced as WWE's new head of creative the following Monday.
Meltzer noted William Regal, who was let go by WWE in January, as one of the first names Triple H would likely try to get back, though the former Stamford talent scout is bound to an AEW contract now.
