Both PWInsider Elite and Fightful Select have provided a backstage update on Liv Morgan's injury status, as well as an expected return date for the celebrated women's division focal point.

According to sources, WWE hopes to have Morgan back on screens by the beginning of 2026. Fightful noted that this has been an "optimistic target" internally for a while now. Liv was struck down by a shoulder injury during a match vs. Kairi Sane on the 16 June edition of Raw. It's understood there's no heat behind the scenes on Sane for that incident or another injury suffered by Zoey Stark.

Morgan was one half of the reigning Women's Tag-Team Champions alongside Judgment Day cohort Raquel Rodriguez before suffering the setback. WWE moved to replace her with Roxanne Perez, then both Raquel and Roxanne dropped the belts to Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam in early-August.

It's unclear whether or not "the start of 2026" refers to TV in January or a Royal Rumble comeback. The famous tentpole PLE returns to its traditional January slot next year after taking place in February 2025. It's also set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the very first time.

Neither PWInsider's nor Fightful's write ups included anything on this, but it's possible that WWE holds off until the Rumble to produce a memorable return moment. Or, perhaps Liv will hit weekly TV before the event and build anticipation for a huge win.

Of course, the predicted early 2026 return date is tentative. It's WWE planning ahead and hoping for the best.
