Bret Hart Brutally BURIES Hulk Hogan (Also, Water Is Still Wet) (WWE News)

Bret Hart once again slams Hulk Hogan.

Another day, another case of Bret Hart taking a shot at a fellow WWE Hall of Famer. Rather than Bill Goldberg, though, this time it was Hulk Hogan who the Hitman once again had in his crosshairs.

Speaking at a GSG event in Germersheim, Germany over the weekend, Hart discussed those who helped him in his career and those who didn't particularly help him.

For Bret, he talked about Curt Hennig and Roddy Piper as major influences on his singles career, noting how both men went out of their way to help Hart "prove to the office" that he could be a "big star". The Excellence of Execution and Mr. Perfect famously had a classic at SummerSlam '91, where, despite dealing with extreme back issues that forced him into temporary retirement for over a year, Hennig busted his backside as he dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Hart only a matter of months after Bret and his Hart Foundation partner Jim Neidhart had gone their separate ways. If that was huge for making Bret seem like a major singles player on the rise, it was arguably an even bigger deal for Hart to later reclaim that IC Title from Roddy Piper at WrestleMania VIII the following year, with Bret scoring an incredibly rare 1-2-3 over Hot Rod in a brilliant barnburner of a match.

While Bret Hart had nothing but praise for Perfect and Piper, he was less complimentary about certain other wrestlers, most notably Hulk Hogan and Jake Roberts.

As Hart explained:

"I look back on what Roddy and Mr. Perfect did for me, and I could tell you that Hulk Hogan never did that for anybody. He never helped anybody else after his time was being the top guy. He would rather see the company sink than actually come back and help make the next star, which in wrestling is kinda how it always works, is that the next guy builds the next guy. Everybody helps each other. Jake Roberts is another guy that never made anybody."

The five-time WWE Champion also had mild criticism for Ric Flair, citing how the Nature Boy's matches were always "the same script, the same match, the same spots, the same moves" and that Flair wrestled "everybody in the exact same way", whereas Bret would always try to wrestle a different match with each different opponent.

Where Hulk Hogan is concerned, Bret Hart has long complained about the political games the Hulkster would play, be that in the then-WWF or later in WCW. And despite being in the same companies for so many years, it's notable that Hogan and Hart only ever had one televised singles match, which was a DQ win for Bret in WCW in September 1998. Infamously, there were plans afoot for Hart vs. Hogan at SummerSlam 1993, where the belief is that Hulk would've lost the WWF Title to Bret. Of course, that ultimately didn't happen, as Hogan left the company that summer shortly after dropping the gold to Yokozuna at King of the Ring '93.

Even though Bret Hart's WCW arrival saw him thwarting the villainous Hollywood Hogan's underhanded ways at Starrcade '97 - where Sting finally beat Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship - Hart's first WCW feud was against Ric Flair, and just four months after Starrcade, Bret would turn heel and join Hogan and the nWo.
