Now that his matches just consist of just German suplexes and F-5s, it’s easy to forget there was a time when Lesnar was considered one of the best technical wrestlers on the roster. Nothing showcases that ability quite like this brilliant encounter with Kurt Angle at SummerSlam 2003.

Having stolen the show at WrestleMania earlier that year, Angle and Lesnar went at it again, albeit with the dynamic significantly altered. Lesnar was now playing a cold blooded heel, aligning himself with Vince McMahon and turning on his once best friend. Angle had just returned from injury and was establishing himself as one of the company’s most over baby faces. This added a whole new level of drama that was missing from their ‘Mania classic.

The match was a technical masterclass in pacing, selling, and wrestling psychology. However, as this was 2003 there were some shenanigans involving the ref being knocked out and McMahon running in with a chair, which prevented it from bettering their ‘Mania effort.

Oh, and Lesnar actually tapped out! Unthinkable with his current booking.
