CM Punk: 6 Possible WWE WrestleMania 30 Opponents

2. Batista And Randy Orton

Right now, this is probably the match up that makes the most sense for CM Punk. Fans are pissed off at Batista, and rightfully or wrongfully, feel that he took CM Punk's spot at WrestleMania. Unlike The Rock, fans are not glad to see Batista back. In a move of desperation, WWE turned him heel just to stave off the horrid response he's been receiving from the crowd. In 2006, Randy Orton vs. Batista may have been a serviceable WrestleMania main event, but in 2014, it's an awful choice. A returning Punk could make this match a three way, and it would immediately become much more interesting. Batista was never that good of a wrestler in the first place, and at 45 years old, he's not even a mediocre one right now. Orton, on the other hand, has been pushed horribly as a heel. He's taken a backseat to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on-air, and just seems to be boring fans with his promo and in-ring work. But right now, Punk is popular. Fans want to see him back, they want to see him finally get that WrestleMania main event match he's dreamed about. His inclusion would make a dreadfully stale match into a feel good one. At this point, neither Batista or Orton would probably mind having Punk inserted into the match. They're probably sick of hearing his name chanted every time they go to the ring anyway. Punk has also said that he's friends with Batista. If the match happened, he would help cover up his buddies weaknesses in the biggest match of the year. He would take the heat off of Orton. There's a lot of things to like about this scenario. It would be foolish for WWE to not strongly consider putting this match together, but considering that they let Punk leave in the first place, nothing seems out of the question right now.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
