22. Forbidden Door 2025

AEW Forbidden Door 2025 Lights Out Steel Cage

Forbidden Door's traditional 'NJPW vs AEW' theme was largely forgotten, as most of this PPVs focus was solely on AEW. That didn't matter one bit to a hyped-up crowd at London's O2, who were treated to a feast of top-quality matches. Kazuchika Okada successfully defended his Unified Championship in a great match with Swerve Strickland, and 'Timeless Toni Storm overcame Ring of Honor's "forever champion" Athena to retain the AEW Women's Champion.

The pick of the AEW-centric action came with Brodido overcoming FTR and The Hurt Syndicate to win the Tag Team Championship in a high-octane, non-stop rager of a matchup. Brodido had become firm favourites with AEW's global audience, and this title win was one of the most popular victories of the year.

The night was headlined by Britain's own Will Ospreay and his team of The Golden Lovers, Darby Allin and the final UK appearance of Hiroshi Tanahashi taking on The Death Riders, Gabe Kidd and The Young Bucks (who continued their amusing entrance woes by entering the arena to Hanson's 'MMMBop' and their original names of Slick Nick and Mr Instant Replay). Tanahashi scored the pinfall victory, and Will Ospreay ended the night being serenaded by the O2 to cap another excellent Forbidden Door.
