A brief stint stewarding the SmackDown midcard in 2003 saw Eddie Guerrero strike gold with nephew Chavo whilst also holding the recently reintroduced United States Championship.

Neither tenure lasted a great while, but the losses that year pointed towards a greater good - Guerrero was being groomed for the unlikely WWE Title run that came several months later.
