Every WWE Royal Rumble 'Final Four' - From Worst To Best

23. 1989 - Akeem, Rick Martel, Ted DiBiase & Big John Studd

The second Rumble was pretty similar to the first in terms of star power and booking. I mean, right down to One Man Gang/Akeem in the final four. At the very least, it also included Ted DiBiase, arguably the promotion€™s top heel at the time, Rick Martel fresh from an AWA Championship run, and a returning Big John Studd. The finish was poetic: the newly virtuous Studd squared off with DiBiase, who had purchased the #30 spot outright. DiBiase was also the partner of Studd€™s blood rival André the Giant, who had memorably bested him at WrestleMania I to the tune of $15,000. André had also won the last high-profile match Studd had been in (at WrestleMania II), so his elimination of DiBiase here was a satisfying payoff, as well as his career highlight.
