IMPACT Slammiversary 2020: Every Debuting And Returning Star's Grade One Year On

EC3 should have been one of Black Wednesday's greatest success stories.

After all, how could he flop? He'd done tremendous work on social media in the aftermath of his WWE release (literally the day he was released), much like Jon Moxley had done before he joined AEW. The new 'Essential Character' persona was perfect for him considering what WWE had done with him, and thus, his face being shown as Slammiversary went off the air was a step in the right direction.

Then, the Moose rivalry started, the same story was told every week, the arc concluded, and EC3 was never heard from in IMPACT again. The former World Champion now resides in Ring Of Honor.

Realistically, the only thing separating EC3 from Heath in this context is that the former's Bound For Glory outing vs. Moose was deemed a marquee outing. Regardless of its blandness with regards to cinematic wrestling - and that the TNA World Heavyweight Championship wasn't even on the line - it's vastly more important than a gauntlet battle royal.

It's a shame the former Ethan Carter III never got more of a run in IMPACT. His return there was inevitable once IMPACT had started teasing the released WWE stars. The Moose saga easily could have been gold, given who was involved; this was easily one of IMPACT's biggest let downs of 2020.
