IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary 2021: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

2. IMPACT World Title No DQ Match: Kenny Omega (c) Vs. Sami Callihan

Result: A thumbtack-assisted One-Winged Angel saw Callihan fall to Omega (27:45).

Rating: Your appreciation of this match will absolutely depend on your taste of so-called "garbage" wrestling, but Kenny Omega and Sami Callihan went to a whole different level in their no disqualifications main event. Given how accustomed fans have become to WWE's no DQ matches seeing only a chair and a kendo stick on offer, this blew minds instantly.

Omega, for example, was busted open almost instantly with a pizza cutter. The perfect tone was set from the offset. Callihan wanted to legitimately injure Omega just as much as he wanted to lift the IMPACT World Championship for a second time. It's why, in the above GIF, he Tombstoned Kenny onto a barbed wire-wrapped chair. He needed the win.

Except he didn't. Omega's title reign should never have ended here. By defeating 'The Draw', you're solidifying Omega as an actual IMPACT champion rather than him being champion to generate some buzz for a couple of months. His V-Trigger with a thumbtack-coated knee pad was 'The Best Bout Machine' sinking to Callihan's level in a match where he desperately needed to do such a thing.

Again, if you don't like this sort of thing, then that's fine. You don't have to. Don't slag off anyone who did like it, though, because Omega and Callihan redefined the no disqualifications stipulation. 9/10
