John Cena’s 10 Other Moves Of Doom

6. Tornado DDT

John Cena Tornado DDT

John’s took to the tornado DDT in recent years, going to the top rope and applying front facelocks to his opponents and then jumping forward and swinging around to fall and drop his opponents heads into the mat.

The tornado DDT is a move Cena incorporated into his feud with CM Punk and used later in his US open challenges against Cesaro and Seth Rollins. It’s one of those moves that looks like it’s far more painful on the person executing the move than it does on their opponent in real life. Cena’s protecting the other guy from landing on his head with his own body so Cena’s taking the blunt force of it all. You could argue most moves hurt the person performing them more than the receiver. Not nearly enough people realise this. Just a regular DDT to the mat looks like it hurts the wrestler executing it, slamming their backs against the canvas. That’s why it’s impressive Cena added the move so late into his career, given the pain he takes from it.
