John Cena’s 10 Failures As WWE's Franchise Star

6. Failure To Successfully Move Into Film

Wrestlers moving into film has always been seen as a bit of a joke, and that certainly has merit when considering the Scorpion King franchise which has seen The Rock and Batista take up roles to a poor response. However, things are slowly starting to change with The Rock becoming a powerhouse in Hollywood and a described franchise saviour (G.I. Joe and Fast & Furious franchises for example) and even Batista has become a huge (and unexpected) success in Marvel€™s incredible summer hit Guardians of the Galaxy. It is no secret that John Cena has tried to move into the film industry, but his films have never set the world on fire. His first big venture €˜The Marine€™ was a critical and financial flop, and according to imdb.com didn€™t even make its $20 million budget back at the box office. His next big roles €™12 Rounds€™ (pretty much the exact same €˜kidnapped girlfriend€™ plot), €˜Legendary€™ and €˜The Reunion€™ followed the same path €“ none a financial or critical success. For all of his criticisms of The Rock€™s departure from wrestling and move to Hollywood, it does make you wonder why he€™s continually trying to make the very same move himself. Perhaps his jealously plays a part? Speculation aside, his poor filmography will be one failure he€™ll always look back on and wonder what if?
