John Cena's 10 Most Notorious Urban Legends

5. He Genuinely Disliked The Rock Prior To Working With Him

Story: When The Rock showed up on Raw in February 2011 it was his first time back in WWE in a long time. He delivered a promo sucking up to the crowd, doing his usual routine of promos and then he mentioned John Cena. It was a huge moment to hear him talking crap about Cena. That same night it left fans wondering if they had genuine heat with one another. In the build up to their match at WrestleMania 28 in 2012, Cena fired some shots at The Rock: "I congratulate him on all his success. He's had a Hall of Fame career in WWE, his movies have grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. If it was my career path, I would have done it differently. A lot of the decisions he's made, a lot of the people he's pissed off... I would have done it differently. I just don't agree with a lot of the decisions he's made. I can show you magazine covers that say 'The Rock Is Dead,' or him doing an interview ringside at a UFC event saying, 'ah, I'm never going back to wrestling.' Just talking bad about the vehicle that got you to the dance, just to further yourself and then when the dust settles, wanting to come back to the dance." Maybe that was just Cena blowing smoke as a way to build up interest in the show, but he did make some good points too. Why People Believe It: Wrestling fans like to believe that people don't really like each other even if they do. We know it's all a storyline, but if there's a real beef that just increases the interest of fans watching the show. Should We Believe It: Probably not. They likely had issues in the sense that they're two really competitive Alpha Males that wanted to be the top guy, but it wasn't that serious. The fact that they worked together for three years (two matches) and Rock put Cena over clean in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 29 shows that there weren't problems with them.
