Kurt Angle’s 6 WWE SummerSlam Matches Ranked Worst To Best
3. 2004 Vs. Eddie Guerrero
This bout between two of the all-time greats, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero, was a follow-up to their encounter at WrestleMania XX. The build-up to this involved then-Smackdown GM Kurt Angle screwing Guerrero out of his WWE Championship and the El Gran Luchadore version of Kurt.
Eddie was able to Intentionally slip his foot out of his shoe to evade the ankle lock at 'Mania in order to avoid tapping out, so it was surprising when Angle was the one who initiated the shoe removal at their SummerSlam encounter. Angle had a strategy though, and when he slapped on his finisher he wanted to make sure the escape method was long gone.
It's always fun to watch an old Eddie match like this one and to relive some of his fun moments. When he used his shoe as a weapon while the ref was bumped, he then flopped like he was injured right before the ref came to, It was a funny and heart-warming moment of nostalgia.
After a Frog Splash by Eddie, Angle locked onto the exposed ankle and tortured his opponent. Eddie tried his best to reach the ropes and roll out of this one but when Kurt pulled him back into the centre of the ring, it was over. Kurt learned his lesson from the 'Mania finish and made Guerrero tap out.
