Kurt Angle's WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

1. Vs. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania 21

This may very well be my favourite WrestleMania match of all-time, and I don't think many would argue with it topping this Kurt Angle-centric list. It was a true dream match, an example of the benefits of keeping the two WWE brands separated and a chance to see two A-level performers go at it on the grandest stage.

It doesn't happen often in professional wrestling, but every now and then a match manages to completely go one better than the humongous expectations that are placed on it. Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels did this at WrestleMania 21. From the opening bell to the closing stretch the two produced true art, incorporated mat wrestling, high-energy professional wrestling, story and expert levels of psychology along the way.

Angle is at his wrestling machine best here, countering everything Michaels throws at him and more. The timing is exceptional, the chemistry instantaneous and the crowd molten. This was Kurt's final singles match at WrestleMania, and it was undoubtedly his best. It even came with a clean finish, with Michaels tapping to the Ankle Lock in the centre of the ring.

It was a finish that the match deserved. A true all-time classic between two of the best ever.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
