NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10 - Everything You Need To Know

6. Kenny Omega (c) Vs. KUSHIDA

Another strange one here. Kenny Omega (the self-styled 'Cleaner' of the Bullet Club) won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from Taguchi at last year's Wrestle Kingdom. KUSHIDA (one half of Time Splitters with Alex Shelley) has been on the cusp of a singles breakout for a while, and 2015 seemed like that year when he won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in the summer. He subsequently defeated Omega for the title at the Dominion 7.5 event. All was right in the world, until September at Destruction in Okayama, when Omega won the title back from the upstart. Omega had professed a desire to move into the heavyweight division, so putting the strap back on him seemed to make little sense. The only way this ends is with KUSHIDA having his big moment in the Dome, starting a third title reign here. This should set up KUSHIDA to take on a whole host of international juniors through 2016, including a long sought after match against his tag team partner, Alex Shelley. Omega can move up to the heavyweight division.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
